Cecilia Qiu

Born in a small county from mainland China, I grew up under the environment of traditional educational system which is teacher-centered and hardly got access to any advanced technological tool.It was during my short study in Singapore in 2009 when I first heard about the conception of e-learning. The university was equipped with all kinds of learning facilitators to assist my learning. I could easily got the learning materials from e-library through the internet. Group talks were also held in internet due to different living places of each member. I used different softwares to improve my presentation and exchanged my thoughts frequently with professors through email. I found out that information technology is rather important to enrich learning experience. 

After that, I spent 4 years as an undergraduate in a university from mainland, majoring in portuguese. The learning resources in mainland was quite limited and the teaching and learning methods were just traditional as they used to be. Classrooms are teacher-centered and advanced teaching tool is hardly used. After graduation, I worked as a saleswoman in a large state-owned enterprise in Hangzhou. However, the job didn't really match my abilities so  I decided to quit and continue my study to become a teacher in the future. I enrolled on the Msc Information Technology in Education courses in the University of Hong Kong in order to discover more about the potentials in education.

I am now a ninja wandering in the jungle of educational information technology. I hope to make friend to every similar bird. Please feel free to wander around and put your thoughts here!
